About Image to Excel Converter

Detects a table’s structure in an image using position-based clustering — grouping text by row based on vertical position, then by column based on consistent horizontal alignment across all rows.

This works well on simple, clearly-gridded tables. Merged cells, multi-line wrapped text within a cell, and irregular spacing are genuine limitations of position-based detection, which is why every result appears as an editable grid before export.

Exports to a real .xlsx file by default, with CSV as a secondary option — same underlying detection as our Table OCR tool, positioned specifically for Excel-first workflows.

How do I convert an image to Excel?

Upload a JPG, PNG, WebP or BMP picture of a table and the tool reads it with OCR, detects rows and columns, and shows a preview. If it looks right, download table.xlsx. A CSV download is also available.

The tool detects the grid from the position of each recognized word, then writes each row into a worksheet called Sheet1. Neatly gridded tables convert best. Merged cells, wrapped text and rotated layouts are not reliably detected, so review the preview first.
