It's pattern matching — looking for words like "total" and "tax" near dollar amounts — not real understanding of the receipt. It works reasonably on standard, simple receipts and can miss fields on unusual layouts.
Can I fix a field if it's wrong?
Yes, every field (merchant, date, subtotal, tax, total) is a normal editable text box — always check them against the original receipt before relying on them.
