About Extract Table from Image (Table OCR)
Extracting a table from an image or photo β rather than manually retyping every cell β saves real time, but it’s worth understanding what this actually does under the hood: it detects where text sits positionally in the image and infers row and column structure from that positioning, not from any deeper understanding of what a “table” conceptually is.
This works well for simple, clearly-gridded tables with consistent spacing between columns. It works less reliably on tables with merged cells, multi-line wrapped text within a single cell, or irregular, inconsistent spacing β situations where the underlying position-based detection has genuinely less to work with.
Because of this, every detected table appears as an editable grid before you export it β review each cell against the original image, especially for anything you’ll rely on afterward, rather than assuming automatic detection is necessarily perfect on the first pass.
