About Rotate Image Online

Photos taken with a phone held sideways, or scanned documents fed in at the wrong orientation, often need a simple rotation to display correctly β€” a common, quick fix that shouldn’t require opening a full editor.

This tool rotates an image in 90-degree increments (or by a custom angle) directly in your browser, producing a correctly-oriented result without needing any other editing.

For a custom, non-90-degree rotation (straightening a slightly tilted photo, for instance), some cropping is often needed afterward to remove the resulting angled edges β€” rotation and cropping are frequently used together for this reason.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to rotate an image?

Upload a JPG, PNG or WebP, then click Rotate Left 90 or Rotate Right 90 until it faces the right way. Click Download Rotated Image to save it. Each click turns the current orientation, so you can repeat it for 180 degrees. Everything runs in your browser.

Can I rotate an image by a few degrees to straighten it?

Yes. Below the 90-degree buttons there is a fine rotation slider from -45 to +45 degrees in 1-degree steps. Use it to level a tilted horizon or a crooked scan. The canvas grows to fit the rotated image, and the corners left empty are transparent.

What format does the rotated image download in?

The rotated image downloads as a PNG named rotated.png, even if you started with a JPG or WebP. PNG keeps the transparent corners that appear after a fine-angle rotation. The tool accepts JPG, PNG and WebP and rotates one image at a time.

Is my image uploaded when I rotate it?

No. The rotation is drawn on a canvas inside your browser tab, so your picture never leaves your device and no account is needed. That makes it safe for personal or confidential photos. Closing the tab discards the image.
