About Free Barcode Generator | EAN, UPC, Code 128 | AuthenTools

Create print-ready barcodes for products, cartons, shelves and shipments without installing anything. Choose EAN-13 or EAN-8 for retail packaging, UPC-A or UPC-E for US and Canadian retail, ITF-14 for cases and cartons, or Code 128 and Code 39 for inventory, asset tags and logistics labels. Type the number and the barcode appears instantly.

For the retail formats the tool handles the check digit for you. Enter the number without it and the correct digit is calculated and added; enter the full number and it is verified, with a clear message and the right digit if something is off. That catches the most common mistake in barcode work, a mistyped digit, before anything is printed.

Adjust bar width, height, margins, text size and colours, then download a PNG (standard, high or print resolution), a scalable SVG or a PDF. The Bulk tab turns a pasted list of up to 500 numbers, each with an optional caption, into a multi-page A4 or US Letter label sheet in the grid you choose, and gives you a checked-list CSV with every final value and check digit.

Everything is generated in your browser, so the numbers you enter are never uploaded or stored. This tool encodes the digits you give it; it does not issue them. Numbers for products sold through retailers must come from your own GS1 company prefix, and printed labels should always be scan-tested before a full run.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to enter the check digit?

No. For EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E and ITF-14, enter the number without its last digit and the tool calculates it. If you enter the full number, the check digit is verified instead, and if it is wrong the tool tells you what it should be.

Can I use these barcodes on products sold in shops?

The barcodes are technically valid, but retail numbers are not free to invent. EAN and UPC numbers must be built from a company prefix licensed by GS1, otherwise they can clash with another company's product. Use this tool to render numbers you have been assigned, or use internal-use formats such as Code 128 for your own stock, and scan-test a printed sample before a full run.

Which format should I pick?

EAN-13 for retail products worldwide, UPC-A for US and Canadian retail, EAN-8 or UPC-E when the package is too small for the full-size code, ITF-14 for outer cartons and cases, and Code 128 for general inventory, shipping and asset labels because it holds letters, numbers and symbols in a compact space. Code 39 is mainly for older industrial systems that require it.

How do I print a sheet of barcode labels?

Open the Bulk tab, choose the barcode type and page size, set how many labels go across and down, and paste one number per line, adding a caption after a | symbol if you want product names under each code. Download the PDF and print it at 100% scale (not fit to page) so the bars keep their size, then test-scan a label before printing the whole run.
