About PDF to Markdown Converter
Convert a PDF into clean Markdown you can paste into Obsidian, Notion, GitHub, a static site or an AI prompt. The tool reads the real text inside your PDF and rebuilds the structure: headings from larger font sizes, bullet and numbered lists, bold and italic text, and code in monospace fonts. Your file is processed in your browser and is never uploaded.
Several options clean up the usual PDF mess. Repeated headers, footers and page numbers can be removed automatically. Words split by a hyphen at the end of a line are joined back together. You can turn heading and list detection on or off and convert again with the new settings without reloading the file. When you are happy, copy the Markdown or download it as a .md file.
Markdown made from a PDF is a good starting point for notes, documentation and knowledge bases. It is also a compact format for giving a document to a language model, because headings and lists survive and the layout noise does not.
What it cannot do: this is a text-based conversion. Tables are not detected, so their cells come out as plain lines of text. Images and charts are not extracted. Links are kept only when the address is printed in the text. Multi-column pages follow the order stored inside the PDF, which is usually the reading order but not always. Scanned PDFs have no text to read, so run them through the OCR PDF tool first. Always skim the result, especially headings, because they are guessed from font sizes.
